A Big Five game reserve two hours from Cape Town at Touwsrivier — a full safari day without the flight to the Lowveld.
You do not have to fly to the Lowveld to see the Big Five. Two hours north-east of Cape Town, over the Du Toitskloof Pass and out into the Karoo at Touwsrivier, there is a private reserve carrying lion, elephant, buffalo, rhino and leopard.
We collect you early, drive out through the mountains, and have you back in Cape Town the same evening. The game drive, meals and reserve entry are booked with the reserve and quoted on top of the tour.

The drive out
Through the Winelands and over the Du Toitskloof Pass, where the vineyards give way abruptly to the wide, dry country of the Karoo.

Touwsrivier
A small Karoo town on the N1 and the gateway to the reserve — big skies, low scrub and mountains on every horizon.

The game drive
Out into the reserve in an open vehicle with a ranger, looking for lion, elephant, buffalo, rhino and leopard across open Karoo country.

Return to Cape Town
Back over the pass in the late afternoon, in time for dinner in the city.
